If you upgrade your iphone 3Gs to 4.0.1, it doesnt matter they just fixed the antenna issue, it does not effect the JB

My guides have become almost useless guys, i'm not to mad though. The Government of the U.S.A made jailbreaking and unlocking legal, and now the dev team has made an iphone jailbreak that works on the phones browser. A simple way to just slide and jailbreak. And it works with iPhone 4!! Anyways if you ever thought it was illegal you are now safe because me and my team test almost every JB and this one works better than the rest. SO just follow the link below and jailbreak your idevice. But to actually jailbreak it you have to use your phones browser.

JailbreakMe 2.0

Before i start this guide, i want everyone to know that jailbreaking an ipod with 3.1.x firmware is much easier and safer. But if you have your heart set on iOS 4 you can try it out!! You have been warned

This 4.0 jailbreak only works for the iphone 3G and 3Gs, and it only works for the ipod touch 2nd Gen. Also you must have a Mac to perform the jailbreak on a 3Gs. For all other ipods try my other Guide



First you need some software for the JB

redsn0w 0.9.5 Beta
iTunes
Pwnage Tool 4.01 (Mac Only)

Next you must make sure your software is 4.0, you download the .ipsw here

Restore your ipod with that firmware only. So plug in your ipod, back it up and shift click restore and choose the 4.0 you just downloaded. Your ipod will be empty with 4.0 installed on it.

Open up redsn0w now. It should be a winrar archive. MAKE SURE iTUNES IS FULLY CLOSED. When redsn0w asked for you corresponding firmware, choose the 4.0 version you downloaded earlier. Then is will ask if your device is a MC model. To find out if it is or not, go on your ipod and go Settings > General > About and look for Model, the first 2 letter will either be MC or MB, so say yes if it is MC and no is it is MB.Then it will download a bunch of different stuff. You will be on your way to jailbreaking it. Next screen will show some different options, it will look like this.



Select the thing you want, i have done my suggestions in that picture, dont do verbose boot, unless you wanna look like a hacker. If you want custom boot pictures, you can make your own its got the limits at the top. I have made some for it here

After that its pretty easy. You have to get your ipod into DFU mode, this IS NOT RECOVERY MODE, redsn0w will tell you how to do it. If you mess up you can try again, theres allot of guides on how to get into DFU mode on youtube. Just click next and let your ipod do its thing. Not watching it usually makes you less nervous. Then when you come back you have a jailbroken ipod or iphone!!!



This is very tough i havnt had allot of time to test it but, it has worked the time ive done it.

First you must jailbreak the iphone with 3.1.x firmware using redsn0w not spirit, guide here

After you have jailbroken it you take Pwnagetool 4.01 and edit your 4.0 firmware to jailbreak it. Then you use iTunes and restore it with your hacked 4.0 firmware. Then you will have a jailbreaken iphone 3Gs!!

Now most of you are wondering what is Cydia? Well its where most of the cool jailbreak stuff comes from. When u first open it make sure you are connected to some kind of Wi-Fi network. Let it load (this may take a minute or two) and a menu will pop up. Most people pick Hacker. If you have no idea of what your doin just pick the Basic option. Hacker has a couple more settings that can be usefull sometimes. Developer is for people who wanna make there own jailbreak apps and themes, if you know how to do this you probably don't even need to read this guide. Anyways after you pick one it will be done. You will be a little bubble over the changes option at the bottom. Tap that and download all the changes that you need, or it will not work properly. Pretty simple stuff, then you are done just play around with cydia and you find lots of cool stuff.


Conclusion,

Congratz you now own a jailbroken ipod touch. But there is some stuff to remember.

DO NOT UPDATE or RESTORE, the jailbreak will be gone.
it works with iTunes, so dont try any other programs
apple will give still give you a new one even if your ipod breaks.
If you think nothing happened, your wrong - cydia will be on the next page so dont go insane yet.

MANAGED TO TANK YOUR IPOD?

Well there are some ways to fix this.

1. Get your ipod into recovery mode ------> video
2. Restore to factory settings FROM THE IPOD then restore on computer
3. RESTORE RESTORE RESTORE
4. Get this and play around with the raw data storage to see a problem
